Do you value your AICP membership?
I have always greatly valued my AICP membership. Since joining the Association in 2014 I have met countless numbers of industry members and regulators. Many of these acquaintances have become friends – people I can reach out to with industry questions or just to get an opinion. Over these last six years I have attended conferences that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. This involvement helped propel me to become our chapter’s President and now Regional Director.
In mid-January of this year, my employer advised that my position was being eliminated. After 16 years of being at the same company, I wasn’t exactly sure how to move forward. I ended up reaching out to as many people as possible including my AICP contacts. Thanks to an AICP member and the Job Bank on the AICP website, in March I was hired as a Regulatory Compliance Specialist at Markel Specialty. I couldn’t be happier! Many of my new peers have AICP memberships that they value as well.
My advice – utilize your membership to the fullest. Network by attending virtual outreach events and in person when available. Meet your regulators, ask questions and introduce yourself. Get the most value from your membership by supporting AICP and getting involved. I did and I could not be more thankful.
