How do I earn the AICP designation?

Earning your designation requires successful completion of the following:

Compliance 101: ALL
Compliance 101 provides the “why” for insurance professionals who want to understand the compliance requirements encountered in their daily jobs – whether they are new to the industry, new to their role, or simply anyone who would benefit from a foundational understanding of how insurance regulation impacts our industry.

Additionally, attendees and their employers will benefit from developing an immediate network of insurance compliance peers that will be vital to developing compliance best practices. AICP’s “Introduction to Insurance Compliance” is a great jump start for insurers who are striving to cultivate a “culture of compliance” throughout all business units in their companies.

Compliance 201: P&C
Compliance 201 and Compliance 202 build on the knowledge gained in Compliance 101 (Intro to Compliance) by delving more deeply into the individual topic the compliance professional will encounter on a day-to-day basis.

Both groups will share three sessions where subject matter experts share tips, tricks and truisms on Regulatory Compliance, Corporate Operations, and Consumer Privacy, Cyber Security & Information Technology.

Then participants will break up into sessions on Claim Administration and on Product and Underwriting for the Property and Casualty discipline and will conclude with the certification test for the course.

Compliance 202: LAH
Compliance 201 and Compliance 202 build on the knowledge gained in Compliance 101 (Intro to Compliance) by delving more deeply into the individual topic the compliance professional will encounter on a day-to-day basis.

Both groups will share three sessions where subject matter experts share tips, tricks and truisms on Regulatory Compliance, Corporate Operations, and Consumer Privacy, Cyber Security & Information Technology.

Then participants will break up into sessions on Claim Administration and on Product and Underwriting for the Life and Health discipline and will conclude with the certification test for the course.

Ethics 101
Now that you have completed Compliance 101 and either Compliance 201 or 202, it’s time to delve into the ethical issues that you may come across while working the insurance compliance area. This two-hour course is part 1 of 3 that will introduce you to key concepts in insurance compliance ethics and provide you with basic strategies to allow you to navigate the issues as they arise

Compliance 101, 201, 202 are 1 ½ day courses offered annually and in-person, ending with an exam. Held prior to the AICP annual conference, each interactive course is taught by industry leaders and experts, guaranteeing you walk away with knowledge and expertise you won’t gain anywhere else!

New this year, Ethics 101 is a two-hour course being offered for the first time this year at our 2024 Annual Conference and is part 1 of 3 that will introduce you to key concepts in insurance compliance ethics and provide you with basic strategies to allow you to navigate the issues as they arise. This course will also end in an exam.

Is there a virtual option?

For those unable to attend the in-person courses, Compliance 101, 201, 202 and Ethics for Compliance Professionals are available online. Completion of the courses and exams is done virtually. Attendance at the AICP annual conference is still required to earn your designation.

How do I keep my AICP designation?

Maintaining your AICP designation is easy!

Once you have completed the initial requirements, maintaining your annual membership and attending the AICP annual conference once every three years is all you need to do! Not only is it easy, but there is also no better way to keep up with everything happening in the complex area of insurance compliance.

AICP Student Engagement Initiative: Through a partnership with college risk management and insurance program leaders, AICP’s new student engagement initiative offers a bridge to students interested in jobs in the insurance industry by:

  • Supplementing students’ educational program with practical insurance compliance-related knowledge
  • Encouraging students to consider insurance compliance fields as careers
  • Providing scholarships, podcasts created specifically for students at no charge, the ability to earn designations, as well as student memberships and conference attendance fees at vastly discounted rates.
