The History of the AICP

With a mutual interest in insurance compliance, a group of visionary compliance and regulatory people met in 1985 to discuss the standards of professionalism in the industry. It was then that the Society of State Filers was born.

In 1998, the membership voted to change the organization’s name to Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP). This name change marks the acknowledgment of the growth and diverse membership of the organization. With 9 Association Chapters supplementing the work of the national organization, our members are comprised of personnel from property, casualty, life, annuities and health insurers, regulatory agencies, consultants and product & service providers.

AICP has earned a reputation for some of the best educational programming available to novice and experienced compliance individuals. This reputation has generated interest from people who are eager to broaden their expertise in insurance compliance.

And of course, the showcase event of the year is the AICP Annual Conference, well known in the insurance industry as a premier educational event. We typically offer between 60 and 70 timely concurrent sessions on P&C, L&H, and general topics led by well-known colleagues and regulators from across the country. The Annual Conference is an excellent opportunity for gaining new information on relevant topics and promoting relationships.
