This month, I will have the joy of attending the graduation ceremony for my youngest child’s M.B.A.  Graduations are a wonderful celebration of accomplishment and personal growth, and I sometimes think parents are more excited than the graduates themselves.  But those of us in the AICP know that learning is a lifelong journey.

The recent all-chapter E-day provided virtual attendees with the opportunity to learn from regulator and industry experts and even be amazed by magician Alan Hudson and his virtual magic show.   The chapter networking session gave Heartland members the chance to get to know some of their fellow Heartland attendees a little better.  According to Brandy Hoffman, current Heartland Chapter Vice-President: “Networking through AICP has proved to be invaluable for both myself and my organization. AICP has allowed me to build relationships with like-minded compliance professionals within the industry that I can reach out to when navigating the everchanging complexities of the insurance industry.”

Guess what!  AICP members don’t need to wait until the Annual Conference to keep learning!

Many chapters, including the Heartland Chapter, are busy planning summer events.  The Heartland Chapter is planning an in-person event for Wednesday, July 27th from 10 AM to 1 PM.  According to Lori Straight, Heartland Chapter President: “One of the really amazing things that AICP has to offer is the multitude of ways that we can connect:  in person, webinars, emails, blogs, and via our website, to name a few.  We successfully pivoted during the pandemic and shifted our focus to electronic platforms for the last couple of years and are now working towards having more in-person events. We’re so excited to be able to bring people together and have face-to-face interactions, so bring your smile!”

The Heartland event will be held at Sammons Financial Group, 8300 Mills Civic Pkwy, West Des Moines, IA.  There will be educational sessions and a fun and casual networking lunch.  There is no cost for Heartland Chapter members and a small charge for non-members.  More information about registration will be provided soon.
