Mattia Scharfstein – I am a team-focused strategic thinker, passionate about solving complex challenges in the property and casualty insurance industry through innovative solutions.
With 20 years of experience, I have developed deep expertise across all aspects of insurance regulation, including legislative and regulatory affairs, regulatory compliance, state filings, complaint handling, external data reporting, statistical analysis, market conduct examinations, and underwriting management-initiated audits. My career has been built on ensuring regulatory excellence while driving proactive compliance strategies.
I have had the privilege of collaborating with industry leaders through my involvement in organizations such as the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society (IRES) Foundation, the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP), and the New Jersey Compensation Inspection Bureau. Beyond committee work, I frequently share insights at industry events, including the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, the American Conference Institute Forum on Insurance Regulation, the AICP National Conference, and Athenium’s Insurance Quality Assurance Conference.
Holding both the Associate Insurance Data Manager (AIDM) and Advanced Market Conduct Manager (AMCM) designations, I remain committed to advancing best practices in insurance regulation and compliance.
Outside the industry, I serve my community as an elected member of the Board of Education in my hometown for just over a decade. As Past President of the Sussex County Association for the New Jersey School Boards Association, I actively engage in shaping educational policy at both the county and state levels.
