Doris Jackson

Give a brief description of your involvement (current and past) with the AICP

I’ve been a member of the Association since December, 1997. I recognized the value right away and became involved as a member of the Welcome Committee. In 2002 I became the Treasurer for the Midwest Chapter and have since served as President, Past President and Regional Director. I have served on multiple National Committees and chaired several as well: Chapter Relations, Conference Planning Promotions and the Silent Auction.

What skills do you bring to the office? What qualifications make you a viable candidate for the office?

I have experienced first-hand the benefits of being a member and serving in various roles. I have been on the Life and Health side of the industry for over 30 years. I would like to support the Association’s growth by sharing the knowledge gained in the industry and in the various roles I’ve served.

What would be your goals for office if you are elected?

Keeping the information flowing between the National Board, the Chapter Board and the Chapter members. It’s important for the Chapter members to be kept abreast of the issues and outcomes of Board discussions. I would bring any issues or concerns from the Chapter members to the Board’s attention as well.

If elected, how would you use your office to work with others in the AICP to pursue the AICP’s current goals and objectives, to meet member needs, and to enhance the AICP’s value in our insurance compliance community?

This Association has done a great job improving the way information is relayed to its members. In addition to getting information out, I’d like to explore ways to receive feedback from our members and the industry. I would support an effort to promote the Association to state insurance regulators/staff as to the value of their involvement in the Association as well.

Where would you like to see the AICP in the future and what would you do to move the AICP toward the vision?

The Association has become a respected industry compliance association. I would like to see it become even more well known as the avenue for compliance personnel to develop their careers. The Association should be on the items that comes to mind at budget time, and top of the list for memberships and travel budgets, no explanations needed!

Additional Comments

As I move closer to my retirement years, I have the desire to help others carry on and give back to those that have made an impact on my career, the association is right up front in that it has provided learning opportunities, networking opportunities, and leadership development opportunities. I feel like I’ve become a better compliance person because of my involvement. It’s also afforded me opportunities to develop relationships that have lasted the span of my compliance career.
