SalaryThe annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, and other conditions of employment. $81,200.00-$134,000.
Regulatory Director
Description
In conjunction with head of business area, directs and manages the overall operations of Regulatory Affairs, which is responsible for the development, negotiation and expeditious approval filings. Provide recommendations, assistance and counsel to all levels of company personnel regarding the development and presentation of corporate filings, as well as related regulatory or compliance issues.
What Will You Do?
In conjunction with head of business area, direct, plan, set objectives and determine organizational structure of unit to ensure an efficient and effective operation.
Manage the staff, including selection, training and development.
Direct the unit in the overall development, submission, negotiation and communication of filings to state insurance departments. Provide leadership and mentoring to unit staff. Provide assistance with technical questions within and outside the unit. Provide filing resources to support all corporate initiatives and effectively work across the corporation to leverage appropriate skills and resources.
Analyze filing data to identify state specific department of insurance issues and potential back-logs, as well as continued focus on expediting filings.
Provide assistance to staff in the review and analysis of state insurance department statutes, regulations, bulletins, etc. Monitor industry changes and developments that impact insurance design and product development. Interpret state insurance statutes, regulations, etc. to provide guidance and direction to business units on a corporate level.
Develop and build relationships with key individuals within the business units, including the management level, as well as with key department of insurance regulators. Work with Legal, Government Affairs and Compliance personnel to identify and communicate sensitive regulatory issues or political situations. Effectively partner with business units and management to advance new ideas, find alternatives and advocate important issues. Represent the company with regulators and insurance industry.
On an annual basis, perform an audit of rate, rule and form filings that have been closed out during the preceding 12-month period to confirm compliance with unit standards.

What is a Must Have?
Bachelors Degree and 6 years related work experience (knowledge of filings, compliance or related fields) or High School Diploma and 10 years related work experience (knowledge of filings, compliance or related fields)required.
3 years experience managing or leading staff required.
