It’s hard to believe it’s June and we are only days away from summer. Most of us have spent the last few months working from home and hardly leaving the house. Add onto that the nearly 2 full weeks of rainy days we’ve been experiencing in the Pacific Northwest, and it feels a lot more like March than June.

I think it probably goes without saying that we are all ready for some things to change. And change they will… or at least be different than they’ve been before.

Faced with an all-virtual world, at least as far as meeting opportunities go, our chapters are getting creative. Zoom has become a way of life and chapters are using the platform to get and stay in touch with their members. It’s great to see us using the technology available to us to stay connected when we can’t meet face-to-face.

We have a podcast! Hopefully this will be the first of many. We were able to partner with Karen Hornig from the National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR). You might remember her from her keynote address at our 2019 annual conference in Denver, CO. She took some time with our Vice President Karen Pollitt and Secretary Scott Whitaker to discuss how our roles in insurance compliance make an impact in the COVID-19 world we live in right now. Stay tuned, we’ll be releasing it soon.

We are getting our feet under us and figuring things out. Our goal is to continue delivering the AICP experience you have come to know and enjoy. We are working hard to increase the amount of content we are getting out to you virtually and provide opportunities for you to network with your friends and colleagues across the country. It continues to be a process and we will continue to improve. We would love to hear from you with feedback on what you think is working and what more you would like to see. Reach out to one of your chapter or national leaders with your ideas. They are all listed on the AICP website and their contact information is available in the members-only Membership Directory.

I want to thank those of you that responded to our survey regarding this year’s annual conference. To keep you updated, we are continuing to evaluate the situation. We are committed to creating an opportunity, whether in-person or virtually, to learn and connect while making our attendee’s health and safety the top priority. We don’t know what this looks like yet. We will get information out to everyone as soon as we do.

I can’t write a blog post in the month of June without mentioning that it’s my birthday month! People that know me know that I celebrate all month long. It isn’t for presents or attention. I celebrate simply because it’s a reason to celebrate. In these strange times, celebrations are going to look a little bit different. I hope each and every one of you will take a moment, whether big or small, to celebrate something. It’s easy to see all the things that are hard or negative right now. So, for my birthday, look for something positive and celebrate the heck out of it!

Stay safe and stay healthy. I hope to see you all soon.

Bri Dahl
