Karen Pollitt
Karen Pollitt - AXIS Insurance Company
Karen is a seasoned insurance compliance and product professional. She is currently Director, Product Development at AXIS Insurance Company, in the accident and health division.
Karen’s experience includes insurance regulatory affairs, managing state filings & statutory reporting, product development and contract drafting, advertising review, legislative/regulatory review and research and complaint handling. Her career began with the John Hancock Companies as a NASD Registered Representative, then with Combined International Insurance as a Group Contract Analyst. She was the Lead Compliance Analyst at Colonial Penn Life Insurance Company for 17 ½ years before becoming a Senior Contract & Compliance Consultant for 5 years working with Coulter & Associates, Inc.

Nancy Campbell - Assurance IQ, LLC
Nancy Campbell has been in the insurance industry for over 34 years. Nancy currently is the Compliance Director at Assurance IQ, LLC, an insurance agency that provides solutions for life, health, property & casualty, Medicare, pet insurance, mortgage, and personal finance. Prior to her most recent position, she was employed as Compliance Director with Symetra Life Insurance Company providing compliance oversight over individual life and annuities, with a focus on annuity suitability, replacements, and third-party distribution through banking channels. Nancy also was the Examiner-in-Charge for Life and Health Market Conduct for the State of Washington for several years, as well as Operations Manager and Customer Service Representative for two insurance brokerages.
In her free time, Nancy enjoys traveling and Seattle Seahawks football. Her favorite travel destinations include Las Vegas, Maui, London, and Mexico. As a season ticket holder of the Seahawks since 2005, Nancy and her husband Jim, through their involvement with various charities and NFL events, have met many fans from other cities and enjoy visiting other NFL cities to see friends and hosting friends during the NFL season. Their travels to see Seahawks games have included trips to San Francisco, Arizona, two trips to New York (once for Super Bowl XLVIII), and to London.
Nancy is also involved in charity work with the National MS Society, Mary’s Place, and Fanz 4 Good (formerly 12s Helping 12s).

Bri Dahl - NAMIC
Bri is a native Washingtonian with strong family roots in the region. She graduated from the same high school as her dad and grandpa. Her kids even go to the same schools now! Her insurance career began in 1999 with Mutual of Enumclaw. She spent 13 of her 21 years with the company in a compliance related role. Bri is currently part of the compliance team with the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC). Her involvement with AICP began in 2007. Bri has served the Northwest Chapter as secretary, vice president, president, past president and regional director. She has served the national organization in several committee roles and as a long serving member of the Board of Directors. Bri is also the President and Director of Rainier Volleyball Club, a non-profit youth sports program in her area. In her spare time, Bri enjoys travel with her family and friends, hiking and any extra time she can get with her kids.

Jim Antush, MCM
Jim Antush, MCM - Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau
Jim Antush is President of the Washington Insurance Examining Bureau (WIEB) and Vice President of Compliance & Actuarial Services for the Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau (WSRB). In his compliance role at WSRB, he oversees all regulatory compliance, ratemaking and state filing functions of the organization. Prior to joining WSRB in 2011, Jim spent 18 years in the actuarial division of the Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner, where he reviewed rate/rule filings for compliance with state laws and regulations and analyzed loss reserves in connection with financial examinations of domestic insurers.
Jim has been an active member of the AICP since joining in late 2011. Prior to his current position as AICP’s National Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee, he served as Regional Director of the Northwest Chapter and Co-Chair of the Membership Committee. Most recently, Jim was recognized and presented with the President’s Award at AICP’s 2018 Annual Conference.
Jim has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics-Actuarial Science from Central Washington University. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with family and friends and cheering for his beloved Seahawks.

Rona Finkelstein, JD
Rona Finkelstein, JD - Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company
Rona S. Finkelstein, Esquire, is Chief Compliance Officer for Chesapeake Employers’ Insurance Company. In this role, she oversees the company’s corporate regulatory compliance program. Since joining the company in 1988, Ms. Finkelstein has held various management positions, including Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Legal Services. Prior to working there, she spent five years in private practice where she specialized in litigation.
Ms. Finkelstein graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law, cum laude, in 1983 and was admitted to the Maryland Bar that same year. While at the University of Baltimore, she received the American Jurisprudence award for civil litigation and was a member of the law school’s National Moot Court Team.
Ms. Finkelstein has made presentations on compliance topics at the American Association of State Compensation Insurance Fund’s (AASCIF) Law Workshop. Additionally, she has presented on workers’ compensation topics on behalf of IWIF, The Maryland Institute for Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers, Inc., and the Safety Council of Maryland.
Ms. Finkelstein has been a member of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP) since 2009. She has served previously as Vice-President, President, Past President, and Regional Director of AICP’s Mid-Atlantic Chapter. Additionally, Ms. Finkelstein serves on the board of directors for Kids’ Chance of Maryland, Inc. and Kids’ Chance of America.

Michael Hartman, FLMI, AIRC - Dearborn National Life Insurance Company
Michael is a seasoned insurance professional with 32 years of experience in the insurance industry, 29 in a regulatory compliance and state filing role. Currently he is the Manager of the Regulatory Oversight & Compliance area for Dearborn Life Insurance Company and oversees product filings for all product lines; state statutory reporting; legislation monitoring and reporting; legislation research; TPA licensing; Department of Insurance and consumer complaints and grievances for the Dearborn enterprise; and works with the Privacy Officer with privacy breaches.
A member of the Dearborn Group family since 2006, Michael started as a product filing analyst. He has served in his current role since 2014. Previously, he worked at Protective Life Insurance (formerly Zurich Life Insurance Company of America), First Penn-Pacific Life Insurance Company and Federal Kemper Life Insurance Company all within compliance related roles.
Michael has earned the compliance designations of FLMI, AIRC, ARA, AAPA, AIAA, PCS, and CCP.  He is a member of the Life and Health Compliance Association (LHCA) and has been a member of the AICP since 2006. His involvement in the AICP is listed below.

Nikki Roper
Nikki Roper - RSUI Group, Inc.
Nikki has had the privilege of working her entire career at RSUI Group over the last 20 years. She is currently a Property Development Consultant overseeing form development and compliance for the Property department. Prior to this role, she was a Property underwriting assistant for 12 years. Having worked in both underwriting and compliance provides an appreciation for both sides and an understanding of how they best work together in maintaining a strong and collaborative business relationship.
Nikki has been a member of the AICP since 2014. She has served on the website committee, as well as being Vice President and President of the Gulf States chapter, prior to becoming Regional Director.

Shawna Pope
Shawna Pope - Farm Bureau Financial Services
Shawna has been with Farm Bureau Financial Services for 31 years and is currently Director – Insurance Compliance. Her team specializes in corporate and product compliance, including life and annuity product filings, variable product compliance, market conduct oversight, legislative and regulatory monitoring and the company’s anti-money laundering program. She also leads an inter-departmental team focused on positive engagement in corporate compliance and ethics.
Shawna is a long-time member of the AICP, having served in a variety of roles at the national level (including Regional Director (2007-2009) and National Secretary (2009-2011). Prior to that, she served on the Heartland Chapter Board, including Chapter President, Vice President, Immediate Past President and Chapter Secretary. She values life-long learning, including industry education and earned the designations of Chartered Life Underwriter; Fellow, Life Management Institute and Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance.
Shawna is a graduate of Upper Iowa University. A lifelong resident of Iowa, she lives with her husband, Joseph, and beagle, Dexter, in Urbandale, Iowa. They are empty-nesters who are extremely proud of their three grown children: Rhonda (husband, Don), Aaron (wife, Zoe) and Rebecca (dog, Remy).

Jean Moriarity - Aflac
Jean has been a member of AICP and the MidAtlantic Chapter since 2008. She has served  in multiple roles as a Chapter Board Officer including treasurer, secretary, Vice President and 2 years as President. She currently serves as Past President and Regional Director.
Jean’s career in the insurance industry has spanned over a 33 years.  She has worked at two start up companies building national portfolios of group life, health and disability health products from the ground up. Both were sold to fortune 500 companies, one for $8 billion and one for $200 million. Jean has a strong network or regulator contacts and industry professionals and believes AICP has helped to expand her network and industry knowledge.
 Jean has worked at multiple insurance companies including U.S. Healthcare, Aetna, and Zurich as a Life and Health Compliance Director specializing in the regulatory development of employee benefit plans. She has held multiple compliance roles such as product development, company licensing, advertising compliance, policy development, and product and rate filings. Currently she is the Director of Contract Development in AFLAC’s Group Life and Disability Division.
Jean has earned the designations of Associate Compliance Professional and Certified Compliance Professional. Â She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Temple University and lives in suburban Philadelphia.

Carmen Brown
Carmen Brown - Jackson National Life Insurance Company
Carmen Brown is an Insurance professional with over 20 years’ in the industry. Experience includes regulatory compliance, state filings, form development, product implementation, project management and advertising review. She works in the Legal Department at Jackson National Life Insurance Company where she has the privilege of overseeing a team that partners with multiple business units across the organization to develop, implement and maintain product specific documents. Carmen strives to be a strong, compassionate, and inspirational leader in thoughts, words, and actions. She values building new and maintaining existing relationships through careful, considerate, and truthful, but respectful dialog and collaboration.
Carmen obtained an Associate degree in Marketing & Management from Lansing Community College and is currently earning her Bachelor of Business Administration, Management from Northwood University.

Dawn Wellenbrink
Dawn Wellenbrink - Standard Insurance
Dawn has worked in the insurance industry for over 16 years. As a Compliance Analyst, she’s been responsible for The Standard’s Individual Annuity suitability program; conducting and drafting the department’s annual audits, as well as providing the department’s suitability and replacement trainings. She reviews and files various products, forms and advertising materials, assists with data calls and market conduct exams, as well as drafting compliance advisories. Having worked on both sides of the business, she adds a unique perspective.
Dawn is a native Oregonian and has been married to her husband Scott for the past twenty-three years. She enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family and hunting for vintage treasures.
Dawn has been a member of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP) since 2016 and was the acting Northwest Chapter Secretary from 2018 – 2021. This month she’s been elected as the chapter’s new Regional Director.

Member of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP), has served as president, regional director and treasurer of the AICP’s western chapter, and has been a contributing writer for the AICP journal/blog. Pursuing both the chartered property casualty underwriter (CPCU) designation and certification as an associate in risk management (ARM). Roger Osgood
Roger Osgood - Chubb Insurance
Roger is currently serving as Vice President and Compliance Officer for Chubb North America’s Major Accounts, Small Business, and Specialty Insurance businesses. He partners with the business units, compliance managers, and other members of the Office of General Counsel to monitor, test, and mitigate potential compliance deficiencies. Roger develops and maintains effective compliance programs by establishing compliance standards, raising awareness, investigating, and addressing compliance issues.
Prior to Roger’s current role, he served as Vice President – Audit and Compliance for Westchester, a Chubb Company which focuses on the wholesale distribution of excess and surplus lines products. He led underwriting audits, drafted audit reports, promoted underwriting best practices, and conducted quarterly management audit committee meetings.  He also managed and coordinated the compliance program for Westchester.
Prior to joining Westchester, Roger was the Compliance Manager for Canal Insurance Company, managing the daily operations of the compliance team to include rate/rule/form filings, research, legislative tracking, and complaint resolution.  Prior to joining Canal, he was Director of Compliance and Market Conduct for AIG Personal Lines (which was acquired by Farmers Insurance Company in 2009). Roger has over 25 years of diversified experience, including key positions in Product Management, Underwriting Management and Compliance. His experience reaches into both personal and commercial lines and across most functional areas of insurance company operations.
Roger is a national Past President and active member of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP).  He served the National Board of Directors as President, Vice President, and Regional Director. Roger also served the local chapter as Vice President, President and Past President.  He continues to serve the Association focusing on regulator participation for chapter Education Days and AICP’s Annual Conference.
Roger has his AINS designation from The Institutes and his ACP and CCP designations from the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals. Â He received his MBA from Southern New Hampshire University and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH.

Katie Gurnett has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years – both in P&C and L&H. She is the Compliance Manager at Physicians Mutual Insurance Company in Omaha, Nebraska. She has held several leadership positions in both the Heartland Chapter of AICP and on the National Board. She has been awarded the AICP Heartland Chapter President Award, the National AICP President Award and the National AICP Lennon Award. She has written several articles for the AICP Journal as well as other publications. She has taught sessions for the AICP and the Society of Actuaries, as well as been a guest lecturer for Creighton University and College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska. She has served as the Life Insurance representative on the NAIC SERFF Advisory Board.

Ilana Kauffman is an experienced Insurance Compliance Professional with a background in both the P&C and LAH arena, working to build compliance programs, manage corporate governance, develop products and expand the business into new territories. Ilana is currently the Director of Compliance for Wysh Life and Health Insurance Company, an Insurtech specializing in term life insurance.
Since joining the AICP, Ilana has volunteered for the Brand & Marketing Committee and is currently an active member of the Student Engagement Committee and Co-Chair of the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee.

Dan Cotter
Daniel Cotter, JD - Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC
Dan is an experienced attorney who has served in a variety of legal roles in his career, including as general counsel of a large life insurance company, as well as extensive experience in private practice. Dan’s mix of clients includes insurance companies and other financial institutions, IT and consulting companies, and nonprofits. He has been working on privacy and cybersecurity issues since 1996, including development of terms and conditions and disclaimers on Fortune 500 websites in the late 1990s. He has been the chief privacy officer of several companies and law firms, and has extensive experience as in-house counsel. Dan is experienced in dealing with complex insurance regulatory issues and transactions, and substantial reorganizations of holding company systems. Throughout his career, he has negotiated thousands of contracts from simple to complex, including outsourcing. He also has substantial experience with internal investigations and employment-related issues.

Scott Whitaker, MCM
Scott Whitaker, MCM - Perr&Knight
Scott Whitaker is the Director of Product Design with Perr&Knight. In this position, he is responsible for management of the Product Design practice area. Scott oversees the services provided by the Property & Casualty and Accident & Health product design teams including product development, policy form content reviews, compliance reviews, competitor form comparisons and regulatory compliance research. He also leads the work associated with compliance testing and operational gap analysis services.
Scott joined Perr&Knight in 2020 bringing more than 25 years of experience in the insurance industry. Just prior to joining Perr&Knight, he was the Regulatory Compliance Manager and Assistant Secretary at EMC Insurance Companies. Before EMC, Scott spent 20 plus years at Nationwide Insurance in Claims and Compliance. He also worked at Marsh/Mercer as an Operations Manager for Life and Health Employee Benefits.
Scott’s expertise and professionalism is evidenced by his position on the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (“AICP”) Board of Directors. He is a frequently requested speaker at AICP annual conferences and E-Days. He also serves a Director on the Insurance Regulatory Examiners Society (“IRES”) Foundation’s Board. Scott holds his Market Conduct Management (“MCM”) designation and attended Wright State University where he studied Business Administration.
