Webinar: Gender Affirming Care: Coverage Requirements and Potential Risks

The issue of gender affirming care has entered the spotlight in recent months.  For insurers, this can create pitfalls.  Some states have penalized insurers that have treated aspects of gender affirming care as cosmetic procedures and denied coverage claims.  Other states’ officials consider gender affirming care for minors to be child abuse and at least one state has criminalized gender affirming care for minors.

As an insurer, what are your obligations to cover care for individuals seeking gender affirming care?  What risks might you face in denying coverage or when providing coverage to individuals who are transitioning?
