Compliance 101 provides the “why” for insurance professionals who want to understand the compliance requirements encountered in their daily jobs – whether they are new to the industry, new to their role, or simply anyone who would benefit from a foundational understanding of how insurance regulation impacts our industry. In addition to the value of the material presented, attendees and their employers will benefit from developing an immediate network of insurance compliance peers that will be vital to developing compliance best practices. AICP’s “Introduction to Insurance Compliance” is a great jump start for insurers who are striving to cultivate a “culture of compliance” throughout all business units in their companies.

“Shifting” Opinions – Credit Based Insurance Scoring
Like the world’s best racing teams, insurers use complex mathematical modeling to improve their car’s performance. For underwriters, performance means the ability to accurately price risks, and for some that means using “Credit Based Insurance Scoring.” A person’s credit score has proven to be a strong indicator of the risk a customer will file a claim – and for most consumers this results in lower rates. However, some lawmakers and consumer advocates have argued that this practice is unfairly discriminatory. This session will walk participants through the history of the practice, the current landscape in both P&C and Life & Health, and arguments on both sides of the debate to help us decide whether CBIS gets the “green flag”.
