Conference Overview
The Great Northwest proved to be an ideal spot for our 20th Annual Conference and a record number of registrants agreed. All of our previous attendance records were broken by this conference - Attendance was over 860 registrants which included more than 60 regulators representing 29 states and over 260 first time attendees! Although we had to spread out over three different hotels and road construction was sometimes a hassle, the weather cooperated and attendees enjoyed informative sessions and participated in various networking opportunities. This year's conference tried a different time table with sessions starting on Monday morning and ending on Wednesday afternoon. We started Conference with an Exhibitors' Showcase and Welcome Reception on Sunday evening. A scavenger hunt encouraged participants to visit with the exhibitors and also learn a little about AICP's history.
There were over 75 sessions over the three day event with topics of interest for everyone. This year saw the introduction of the Commissioner's Corner on Monday morning. We were excited to have not one, not two, but four Commissioners speak on a panel and answer our attendees' questions. Our gala event drew a record crowd where we were entertained with the sounds of a jazz ensemble.
Our annual business meeting was held at the Tuesday lunch, and the new national officers and board members were sworn in by our general counsel.
Tuesday evening was a time to be with friends. Many chapters organized events including the Underground Tour and a Dinner Cruise.
One of the last sessions for conference was a lively rendition of the Newlywed Game, where regulators were paired with industry partners and asked questions to earn points. The audience and the contestants had a great time and shared a lot of laughs.

First Timers Orientation
This is a great opportunity for our first timers to learn something about AICP and also to network with their fellow first timers. A short presentation was given concerning AICP. This was followed by an ice-breaker which divided the record group of first timers (over 260 people) into 'bands'. Each band was given the task of naming their band and their hit song. When the first timers left the session, they had made new friends and had a few laughs.Volunteer Recognition
Where would the AICP be without its great volunteers. All functions of the committees and the conference planning are carried out by a group of individuals committed to the betterment of AICP. Volunteers are the core of AICP. The organization can not succeed without the hard work, creativity and dedication of our volunteers. In recognition of their importance to AICP, a volunteer recognition luncheon was held in their honor.President's Award
Elaine Bailey of Red Shield Insurance Company, and a member of the Northwest Chapter of the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals (AICP), was presented the President's Award at the 2007 Annual conference of the AICP in Portland, Oregon.Every year, the President's Award is given to an individual who has exemplified volunteerism, been a valuable asset to the current President, as well as helping AICP achieve its goals relative to the Mission Statement and Vision Statement.
